Interview: Meet Aida Lora by VoyageMia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aida Lora.

Aida, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a licensed Interior Designer in the State of Florida and a former professor of Interior Design in the Miami international school of art and design.

During these difficult times, several colleagues lost their jobs and others had to work from home. Designers and vendors started reaching out to me to talk about strategies and get ideas on how to network and do business during this pandemic environment. I started doing #DesignChat with Aida Lora. On Instagram. This is a platform to connect the interior design community with the vendors and others designers.

By providing educational-relevant interior design information and, at the same time, engaging with manufacturers rep to showcase their products, I support the connectivity in the Interior Design community. I am also launching my webpage in early July aidalora.com, where the community will find different educational resources, workshops, engagement, and of course, interior design services.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No. Not a smooth road. On my first #DesignChat, I was very nervous. English is not my first language and it is not perfect. I struggle with my own personal insecurities every time I go LIVE or record a video for my YouTube channel. It wasn’t until the second #DesignChat when a vendor reached out to me to collaborate and start doing business to support this educational and engagement platform I am building. The community has been very supportive and responsive. Design, for me, means people.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
